If you have problems using our GoldenRod Animal Lancets please review the questions below to see if your question is answered.

Some blood came out of the ear of the mouse?

If you get blood from the ear of the mouse with little or no blood from the puncture, be assured you have not hurt the mouse. The puncture is a little too high and too far back towards the ear. You have poked  through to the ear canal and the blood is flowing in, not out. Eventually blood flows out through the ear. The puncture will clot quickly and the bleeding will stop and you can actually collect blood from the ear. Try to do the lancet stick closer to the to the back corner of the jaw bone, lower and a little forward of a puncture that results in blood from the ear

What point length do I use?

  POINT LENGTH FOR MICE:

What Item Number do I use to order them?

We are not using an Item number for this product.  When ordering specify “Goldenrod Animal Lancets” and the point length (4mm, 5mm, or 5.5mm)

How much do they cost, and can I buy less than 1000 lancets?

The price is $45 per 1000 lancets plus shipping. We are sorry but we do not sell less than 1000 lancets of any size.

I’m having trouble finding the right location for the puncture.

First please watch the instructional video on this website by clicking the link below.

If you still have trouble after watching the video, read the explanation below:

If you think of the bottom of the mouse’s jaw line as being horizontal, it comes to an end and then angles up towards the eye at about a 45 degree angle. The correct location for the puncture is a little behind the end point of the jawline and a little above the horizontal line of it’s bottom.

There is a vascular bundle located at the rear of the Jaw Bone providing a convenient and consistent source of blood
